Alabama native, Moonie Savv discussed transitioning from the south to the mid-west region after college. Born and raised in Montgomery Alabama, Moonie has made himself a home here in the city of Chicago. He says Chicago has been showing him a lot of love since he’s been here.
“When I moved up I was just supposed to stay here for the summer but when I got here I was so connected and met a lot of people….and then I thought about it like I’m way more connected here than my hometown….” Despite Moonie feeling like he didn’t get the support he needed back home, he didn’t allow that to discourage him when he moved to the city. He linked with Y.K Supe and became the newest and only artist signed with the YKMG Label. “Long story short, I met Supe on campus in school and as soon as he found out in the city he invited to a video shoot and then we locked-in every since then….he told me I was gone be the only other artist on YKMG and it made sense because I was always around him….” Moonie and Supe were long-term college friends back at Alabama A&M University. It made sense for them to re-link in Chicago and it seems to be a success for the two striving artists. He’s already released two singles “The Parkers” and “YKMG Flow” which is a feature with him and Y.K Supe off the Undefeated EP. Moonie’s spontaneous personality has certainly put a charm on the city. He surely made an enduring impression with his dance moves at Illanoize’s “Back Outside” event last year. He considers himself “The Life of the Party” because he always make a huge impact on his peers. Moonie Savv is a burst of energy that is ready to dominate the music industry with his personality, dance moves, and most importantly his talent. He’s currently working on releasing his first project soon. Check out the full interview below!
