Kicking off the new year! I got a chance to take a trip to Accra, Ghana for the first time on behalf of Vocalo 91.1 FM, Chicago's Only NPR Music station to experience my ethnicity, as well as cover Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper's "Black Star Line Festival" in which you can stream the recap here.
During my time at the festival I was introduced to Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and beloved reggae artist Stonebwoy. From the moment he stepped foot on stage the energy from the attendees was overwhelming in a positive manner. From chants, to everyone singing along and filling the night sky with their cell phone flash lights I was intrigued. Ever since 1Gad's energetic performance at "Black Star Line Festival" i've been waiting to hear more, and Stonebwoy has returned with a new single produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Supa Dups titled “More Of You.” His latest release blends Afrobeats, Reggae, and R&B. The main focus of his new record is giving and receiving more love, more happiness, all while making you dance. As Stonebwoy sets himself up for his 5th studio album release along with a headliner in New York set for March. You can stream his latest release below via Spotify for a taste of what's to come.
