By: Dj First ClassAs the great Mannie Fresh once said: "Ladies and gentlemen, pimps and players. Half-ass rappers and true rhyme sayers. THIS IS THA CARTER!" On Easter Sunday, the one and only Lil Wayne blessed Chicago with his presence for his This Is Tha Carter nationwide tour. It was for sure a time to remember as the Young Money CEO took us all on a trip down memory lane, performing some of his highest charting records. Whole time, it wouldn't be a real show without him performing a number of his classic mixtapes hits --- and he knew this. With a packed house at Radius in Pilsen, the vibes were certainly felt --- but not as much as they could have been! (I won't go into much detail here, but yeah). The distinguished setlist further proved why he is (arguably) still the best rapper alive. He kicked the show off with his verse from his critically acclaimed "Mr. Carter" record with Jay-Z. That immediately set the bar and the bar raised higher and higher each track. The first half of the event consisted of these hits before a brief halftime show with his Young Money roster: "Back That Azz Up" "Best Rapper Alive" "Money On My Mind" "Drop The World" (feat. Eminem) "Blunt Blowin" "John" (feat. Rick Ross) "LaLaLa" "Hustler Muzik" "BM JR" "Cash Money Millionaires" "Rich AF" (feat. 2 Chainz) "Single" "Good Kush & Alcohol" "Lollipop" "Mrs. Officer" "Comfortable" "Mirror" (feat. Bruno Mars) "How To Love" "She Will" (feat. Drake) While it was one hell of a halftime performance by Mellow Rackz, Euro and Lil Twist, Weezy F. returned with even more fire for the second half of the show with some memorable bars from these mixtape cuts: "Kant Nobody" "Cannon" "Watch My Shoes" "Ice Cream" "Wasted" "Ask Them Hoes" "1000 Degrees" "Rollin" Going from "Ask Them Hoes" to "1000 Degrees" to "Rollin" was a triple threat that your favorite artist probably couldn't pull off. Following that, the multi Grammy winning rapper had more ammo he needed to let off. When "Go DJ" came on, all hell broke loose before he reminded us he could f**k "Every Girl In The World." Immediately after, "Pop That" sent us into a frenzy as well as "HYFR", "The Motto" and his riveting "God Did" verse. Towards the end of the show, before he concluded with "Steady Mobbin" and "A Milli," it was only right he brought out Chance The Rapper as a surprise guest for the city. "S/O to Chicago, I've been coming here since I was 14 years old and y'all have always showed me an immense amount of love. I ain't s**t without y'all!" he sad before Chano hit the stage for their "No Problems" performance.
All in all, if you missed out on the show, it was one to remember.
