By: iLLANOiZE TeamChicago is a city rich in creative expression, talent, and a legacy of shaping culture. It’s also become a place where artists are using their platforms to raise awareness and foster unity within their communities. One such artist is Jaas, a sensational Chicago-based singer who took the initiative to bring people together as her career carries on. What began as a personal outlet for Jaas to pause the release of her music has evolved into something much more impactful: RatedRNB. This concert-party series is a curated experience designed not only to celebrate R&B but to amplify the voices pushing the genre forward. Held at Kashmir, a vibrant cocktail and music lounge in Chicago’s West Loop, the evening buzzed with soul and energy. Flowing drinks and a boost from the event’s official sponsor, Red Bull, added to the vibe, while DJ Protege set the tone with a seamless mix of nostalgic throwbacks and fresh R&B anthems. The atmosphere was intimate, energetic, and undeniably inviting. Jaas graced the stage with a passionate performance of unreleased tracks, giving the crowd a glimpse of what’s next. Her platform was used to spotlight a dynamic roster of rising R&B talent, showing that RatedRNB is as much about community as it is about artistry. The all-male RNB lineup didn’t miss. From start to finish, each artist brought something distinct to the stage, showcasing the richness and range within Chicago’s male R&B scene. Galaxy Francis set the tone with an effortlessly smooth delivery, blending soul and lyricism that immediately captured the crowd’s attention. UpAt2 followed with a compelling mix of vulnerability and swagger, drawing listeners into his world with melodic storytelling. 9dsvn delivered a captivating performance laced with intricate melodies and raw emotion. TheEndIPromise added an experimental edge, fusing traditional R&B with modern textures that pushed the genre’s boundaries. Eli’s stage presence and vocal control left a lasting impression, adding a soulful touch to the evening. Closing out the night, headliner Josh K took the stage with charisma and seasoned artistry, performing with polish and passion. The soundtrack of the night gave a nice nod to R&B, a genre that continues to thrive and evolve in the city. After back-to-back showcases highlighting both all-women and all-men lineups, the direction of the next RatedRNB remains to be seen. One thing is certain: this growing movement is honoring R&B’s roots while proudly carving out space for its future in Chicago.
