Thrift Soul member Akhil Sesh drops a strong first single off his forthcoming project Free My Shooter
Detroit has been in shambles for some time now, and the hip hop coming out of the city often reflects this. While lyrical heavy weights like Royce Da 5'9 and Elzhi use potent rhymes to tell their story, it is now 2017 and emotion can be conveyed in many ways. An artist pushing those boundaries is Akhil Sesh who mixes hip hop, ambient music, and dark undertones. He's worked with the likes of A$AP Rocky this year, who is an obvious inspiration in his music.
Akhil is set to release his next project Free My Shooter, and to build the right amount of buzz he's dropped the first single, Black Jesus. The song is a reflection on his move from his previous passion, photography, into a full time performer. Akhil also provides commentary and observations from his life in Detroit. Black Jesus is incredibly short - but its bass heavy and abstract approach will not be something you forget.
