Drake, Chris Brown Future, Ty Dolla $ign, and Jeremih tops the "All-Decade Hook Team (2010's)".8/22/2019 By: GroovNuke
The 2010's blessed us with some great music. With four months and some change left with the "teen" years, I've decided to measure who's been the best hook artists over this decade.
Here we are with the 2010's- All-Decade Hook Team. In addition to this list, theres also a 2000's All-Decade Hook Team coming as well as a 1990's team. Stay tuned, and read more on my five All-Decade spot holders. Along with the artists listed, you can find a dope playlist right underneath the descriptions. Honorable Mentions: Swae Lee, Wiz Khalifa, Young Thug, J.Cole, Rihanna. Drake
Favorite Hooks: "100", "Paris Morton Music", "Come Thru", "The Resistance"
A wise man once said, "and we gon' be alright if we put Drake on every hook", right before the decade hit. That man, Lil Wayne (Money to Blow, 2009), turned out to be right. Things turned out just fine for the Canadian-based star. Drake became one of the biggest stars right before our eyes. Even though he had hits in the late 2000's, Drizzy unfolded into a different type of hitmaker in his prime years. Albums such as Thank Me Later, Take Care, and Nothing Was the Same just might be three of the top 20 albums since 2010. Drake is the real deal on the hook, and his spot on the list is one I cant deny. Chris Brown
Favorite Hooks : "Another Round", "Dueces", "Celebration" "Tone it Down", "New Flame".
When speaking on a generational, musical talent, speak Chris Brown first. We've watched him take the limelight for it's highs and lows at an age we know we won't have it all figured out at. After all that and to still be one of the top talents in the game is a major feat. His superstardom can break the internet for better or worse on any given day. Through those times even, Breezy still gave us memorable moves and music. Just like Drake, Brown had a fair run in the 2000's. Breezy's gave the fans both outdoor and indoor music. He's dropped several albums during the decade, such as the illustrious F.A.M.E. and Royalty. Surrounding those two talents is enough content to keep him buzzing. His work in the 2010's is more than enough to guarantee a spot for him on this list. There's songs featuring him that was nearly made his song through his superb chorus skills. The playlist below vouches that Breezy has an extensive run on the chorus throughout the 2010's. Future
Favorite Hooks: "Ain't No Way Around It", "Codeine Crazy", "March Madness", "Deeper Than the Ocean", "Unconditional Love".
"Racks on Racks" by YC feauring Future hit the radio and it's been up and stuck for Future ever since. At least on the hook side it's been. Future gave us perhaps the most monumental runs in recent hip hop history from Monster all the way through Future and HNDRXX albums. That's nearly two and a half years of being at the top of his game. Before then, he was certified with projects such as Astronaut Status, Streetz Callin, and Honest. During his infamous run, hits like "March Madness", "Codeine Crazy", and "Trap N*ggaz" all came to life. He's got joint projects with Drake, Young Thug, and Juice World. Along with his joint albums, he dropped a collaborative FBG: The Movie mixtape back in 2013. It's safe to say Future has been going hardest than most in the 2010's. Andre 3000 said Future makes the most "negative, inspirational music" ever. You wouldn't want it any other way with Future, if we're being honest. His best hits came along with a killer chorus. A great deal of songs weren't able to be placed on the Apple Music playlist, but if you know, you know. Jeremih
Favorite Hooks: "That Way", "Oui", "Don't Tell Em", "Planez".
Jeremih is just the young legend that honestly doesn't receive the credit he truly deserves. At 32 years of age, he still has so much of his prime to master in the game. Jeremih was giving out bops back in 2008, straight from the 'Go. Now, he's combining forces with fellow All-Decade Hook Team member Ty Dolla $ign for joint projects. MihTy was a dope experiment featuring two of the game's hitmakers. Also, shoutout Hitmaka for the heavy production on MihTy. It's important to add Jeremih to this list for just being everywhere through his decade long career. He got those memorable singles, the ones that can turn up the club, and then slow down the floor. This guy is a special case with his hook making ability. Vibe out with his playlist below. Ty Dolla $ign
Favorite Hooks: "Cinderella", "Paranoid", "Or Nah.
Ty Dolla $ign is one of the hottest on the hooks and in the game right now. He's been all gas, no breaks since the release of singles such as "Paranoid" and "Or Nah". Dolla $ign is really the vibes out here. What makes his artistry special is his ability to mesh with artists. Ty has singles with artist of all sorts. It seems almost as if his vocals were made for the chorus. I can only imagine him with another decade of this under his belt. As I mentioned earlier, MihTy was a match made project. Him and Jeremih combined their efforts for something that will age with grace over time. Dolla $ign makes my team due to the anticipation of knowing it's a hit when you see his name. He brings a presence and sound that's been worth the listen since the beginning. Ty had the people in tune with a banger for the past five summers. It's still early for him, with nothing but space to flourish.
