Prince Hotboi speaks on breaking into the music industry while dealing with traumatizing tragedies growing up in Chicago. It’s no secret that Chicago has been highlighted in the media for a high rate of gun violence for the past few years. Prince Hotboi opened up about losing his 14-year old sister to gun violence.
“It’s devastating especially since ours was broadcasted….it’s a rollercoaster.. some days we fight through it but alot of days it’s emotional…just like any other family that take a loss.” The tragedies increase as he speak about losing other loved ones, like some of his best friends he grew up with. However, music has always been an outlet for Prince Hotboi to release his feelings toward the trauma. He recently dropped his debut album Different Tones of Musik inspired by his newborn son. Prince Hotboi collaborated with Chicago DJ/producer DJ Milticket on some of the tracks. “I bumped into him through a mutual friend so we already had a relationship but I went to this Coalinition Dj event and they loved my songs…Milticket hit me up to do some songs and I started working with him.” The project includes some features with some rising Chicago artists making noise in the city like PrettyGal Sy and Carla G. We even see Detroit artist, Icewear Vezzo make an appearance on the project. Prince Hotboi says he is going to continue to use music as his therapy and release relatable music for the world.
