For this week's throwback, I decided to take it way back to 2006. When Drake first kicked off his buzz with Fear Factor and Hearfelt Music, DJ Smallz, and Southern Smoke. 'Room For Improvement' stood as Drake's first project. Intended for sale only, the mixtape sold 6,000 copies in a year. This was during a great era in music blogging so the buzz on Drake was picking up quick. Singles such as 'City is Mine', 'Come Winter', and 'Kick Push (Remix)', put a collective scene on to Drake.
Fourteen years removed from the project, this is one that stood the tests of time. It's a nice, documented start leading in to Drake becoming one of the biggest artists in music history right before our eyes. I shared this tapes in hopes of bringing out the fact that even the biggest and best artists had to start somewhere. Times are different, but the push towards greatness shouldn't be. Drake was right on with the name of the tape, there was a lot of Room for Improvement. Get in tune with the project below, via Datpiff.
