Writer, producer and director John Singleton passed away on April 29, leaving behind a long lasting impact on the world and the black community. Mr. Singleton was the first African-American and youngest person ever to be nominated for an Academy Award at age 24. His moving debut film Boyz N The Hood earned him those honors. He also directed and produced movies such as Baby Boy, Four Brothers, and Higher Learning. The list goes on and it's filled with everlasting work. Celebrities such as Ice Cube and Samuel L. Jackson mourned the loss of a pioneer in film making for blacks. Singleton's impact will be forever felt in Hollywood, and it's safe to say he paved the way for the innovation of film making.
