Singer/songwriter Lachi ventures into new territory on her Styles P assisted single Living A Lie

Just a few days ago I started my album recommendation series. I wrote about Sleigh Bells’ stellar debut album Treats – a must listen if you are a fan of music. After the editorial, I was inspired to expand my reach, and write about other genres of music.

Enter Lachi. The multifaceted NY singer/songwriter just put out her newest single, Living A Lie. It may be new territory for readers of the blog, but it does feature OG MC Styles P. It’s definitely an EDM inspired record, with elements of synth pop, glitch hop, and dance music. What’s more – she co-produced the entire thing.

Lachi is a superb vocalist, and is finally getting her due respect. She’s been featured on popular radio and television stations across the country, and has received accolades from the likes of Rolling Stone. While she’s known for her warm, intimate records; myself (and others) seem to be drawn to this experimental phase in her career. The hip hop community has gravitated towards her music too, as she has opened for the likes of Questlove (of The Roots) and even co-written some songs with Snoop Dogg. Hop on the Lachi train now before it’s too late.
