Lyrik Discusses Growing Up in Chicago and Being Wrongfully Labeled As A Gang Member on iLLANOiZE Radio
Rising artist, Lyrik discusses growing up in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago. Lyrik was raised in a neighborhood called Gage Park, where he describes as “the most segregated neighborhood in Chicago.” He says that you either lived on the Hispanic side or the black side but he went to school and lived on the Hispanic side.
He explains that the gang violence was no different and describes when he was jumped because he was labeled as a gang member.
“That was a traumatic experience for me because I told people I don’t gang bang… and they really got down on me. I was only 13…”
