Matt Whise links with producer Aqua The Abstract for his most progressive track yet
I love when artists step outside of their comfort zone. In this industry you’ve got to keep them guessing or you’ll sit on the bench when you deserve to be in the starting 5. Although Matt Whise has no dent in his discography, he’s highlighted his lyrical prowess from the start. Rightfully so, as it’s a great asset to have as a rapper. His newest song, "Soul Gem," is a straight up anthem, and it's a god damn love song. He uses his husky voice on the chorus, and a personal narrative on the surrounding verses. Matt is not sure if he should pursue a girl after his boys tell him she’s not worth it, but love is a powerful drug, and he ignores all advice. The syrupy sweet beat comes courtesy of Aqua The Abstract, adding the perfect backdrop to the soulful love song. flowsfordays gave it a proper premiere which you can peep here.
