Southsider Ric Wilson explores important territory in new track What If I Was White
Ric Wilson has grown a grassroots movement that has reached way beyond Chicago. Last year's "Soul Bounce EP" was incredible - and even premiered by Noisey. He transcended genres, broke boundaries, and made it easy to love him. Earlier this year he dropped "Negrow Disco" - another progressive project that secured his place in the music world.
He is not afraid to be honest in his lyrics, but always keeps things hopeful. His latest, "What If I Was White" is a heartbreaking tale of his desire to be caucasion in his childhood. It hit me hard, and brought forth emotions that all of us need to feel at this time in the US. I applaud Ric's fortitude, lyrical prowess, and ability to express himself creatively.
