Something to Think About

Reparations are something like an urban legend and should have been given to the black community years ago. But is it really possible? Yes, I truly believe it is but this transferal of wealth will not come easy. So how is this possible you ask while allowing me to deliver my scenario for the biggest wealth transfer since slavery.

We're currently around 100 something days without major sports and I'm sure at this point we could survive until October when basketball usually comes back and when baseball is starting to get exciting so a protest at this moment in my eyes would kind of be pointless.

Now imagine if every major sport in America said hey we as athletes are not comfortable with how the black community has been treated over the past 300+ plus years and we stand with them and will boycott our seasons from Baseball to Basketball and even Football (both forms of the sport) and will not resume or honor our contracts until reparations are paid in full to the black community.

Billions maybe even trillions of dollars will be last over a 365 day period. Could a loss of significant proportions finally be the answer, maybe but something of this magnitude would need participation from all athletes, not just the African American ones, and most importantly the biggest names across each sport would all have to stand together.

The most refreshing part of this past week and a half of tension is how so many people choose to come together. No matter how the media has tried to portray the civil unrest and injustice in communities across the world we as a culture have used this moment to shift the culture and give back to our brothers and sisters without relying on government assistance but by believing in each other. The only way to see change is by being the change. Salute everyone across the city that's doing their part to be that helping hand.
