Something to Think About

For most of LeBron James career as a professional basketball player, he's been mostly spot on when it comes to social issues but his latest statement has me questioning the Lakers leader. Yes, the work on the ground will continue to move forward but without the lens focused solely on "THE STREETS" how long before the names George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the latest casualty Rayshard Brooks just become names we've forgotten about over time.

The NBA is scheduled to return July 31st and with its return comes media coverage. Yes players can speak about social injustice through before and after game interview's but a complete boycott of the remaining season will send shockwaves to every media platform with one simple message, We will no longer shut up and dribble we stand with the community and the world and here are our demands.

I understand both sides of this argument but an NBA championship isn't an individual award it's technically not even a team award it's an organization award and I understand LeBron is chasing his legacy and that's perfectly fine but while he's on the court chasing a ring more United States citizens will be unfairly sentenced in the court of law, more United States citizens will have their rights taken away from them unlawfully and more United States citizens will be killed by an organization that has sworn to protect and serve.
