In light of the recent poll of asking who's the best label out of the one's listed, Young Money received a lot of support. I've decided to highlight their group album We Are Young Money as the Throwback of the Week.
The album was released in December 2009, bringing light to a collection of young stars who's calling next in the game. On a grand stage, this was the world's introduction to artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and more. Lil Wayne was coming off a successful solo run, running a successful label, and dabbling into new endeavors as well. The album hosted singles such as 'Bedrock', 'Every Girl in the World' and 'Steady Mobbing' featuring Gucci Mane. It received fair reception, debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. The special part about the album was that it was not just an album, it was a platform. Although Drake and Nicki were new to many, they ran the course in the mixtape game early on. This was a big break for them industry wise, along with a good start for Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, Chanel, Lil Twist, and the rest of the crew. It's safe to say Young Money enjoyed a respectable time in the game. After this album, nothing was the same, literally and figuratively. Take a trip down memory lane below, or catch the album across all major steaming platforms.
