Chicago native, Y.K Supe released a summer project called “Undefeated.” The EP consists of 6 songs and an introduction interlude. Giving us Lil Wayne “Dedication” vibes, Supe begins the project by speaking on why he’s undefeated. The interlude leaves you in a suspense with the Debo beat from the classic movie Friday that’s behind his voice.
“We undefeated because it’s never been a loss we didn’t come back from….” Then the project goes into the first single “Lately” produced by Fl8cko. The beat instantly grabs your attention starting off with a siren-like sound and then boom the beat drops as Supe raps “Lotta shit been going on latelyyyyyy…” It’s the perfect song to open the project with as he explains what’s been happening in his life lately. Following up right after that, Y.K Supe takes time to pay homage to Chicago legend ZackTV in his next single “CNN.” He raps about the struggles of being a black man specifically in Chicago. CNN is easily the realest song on the EP, produced by 93SkrrSkrr. The soothing beat allows you to hear the authenticity in Supe’s lyrics as he tells his story he describes it as….“This like the hood CNN with raps tho…” We did see a couple features on the Undefeated EP. Y.K Supe links with rising Chicago artist, Twilla on Timeless and YKMG’s own Moonie Sav for YKMG Flow. Undefeated is definately not just a summer project, it includes music for every mood. From turning up to Lately to being your feelings to The Truth, Supe proves his versatility with this project.
