By Julie SYoung RJ of Slum Village links with BJ The Chicago Kid for a visual to Issues (off upcoming EP BlaqRoyalT) For those that don't know of the iconic group Slum Village, stop what you're doing and give any of their albums a listen. Young RJ was a prominent member of the group, and has recently stepped out as a solo act. RJ has dropped 3 impressive singles, all leading up to his upcoming debut solo EP BlaqRoyalT dropping October 10th. The 3rd, Issues, is a soulful cut about the current political and social climate. Both BJ and RJ share a similar background and artistry, making their 2nd collaboration seem effortless. The record was produced by RJ himself, with co-production from emerging Detroit producer DAG. The actual visual is somewhat of a mini movie, representing RJ's narrative. Director Diego Cruz did an excellent job putting this together, and I hope to see more work between the two.
