It's a good Friday indeed with two new visuals out from Zaena and Jason Maek. The duo team up for the videos to their track 'Chillin' and 'Overtime'.
‘Chillin’ centers around Jason Maek’s desire to upgrade his standard of living while repeatedly rejecting his friends request to go out. Instead, he would rather save money by staying home and contemplate life. The video transitions from modern day to Motown, as Zaena skats a-la Diana Ross and the Supremes.
“We didn’t have to do this in a one-shot, however it was important to us from a cinematic standpoint”, says Jason Maek. “Even if it seems very simple, it took a lot of planning.”
‘Overtime’ feels more like an infamous scene from a musical versus a traditional music video. Each bus rider plays a special role ranging from playing horns, performing choir sections, and belting out soulful solos.
Zaena states, “Overtime hits home for a lot of people. It speaks on the every day existence of so many people. There is this battle between chasing your dreams and, ya know, paying bills that is real. As dreamers, we all have to balance that along with societal pressures to fit into the status quo.”
Zaena and Maek is dropping tunes like clockwork. They put together a plan for new drops every 1st and 15th of the month since February.
‘Chillin’ and ‘Overtime’ are available on YouTube, Spotify, and all other streaming platforms. Get in tune right now if you love consistency coming from new artists. Make sure to comment, leave feedback, and most importantly spread the NOiZE. It's a Chicago connection right here.
