By: GroovNuke XXL released their 2019 Freshman Class. This is always the talk of the town in plenty music debates during the first half of the year. It's time to put the debates to rest. Blueface, Comethazine, Tierra Wack, Da Baby, Lil Mosey, Roddy Rich, YBN Cordae, YK Osiris, Rico Nasty, Gunna, and Megan thee Stallion headlines the versatile group of upcoming artists. Down low, I quickly commemorated a few of the artists featured in this year's edition: Blueface caught fire with viral tracks such as 'Thotiana' and 'Bleed It', both holding over heavy rep for him. His rapping a row behind the beat style and infamous dance moves made him an instant attraction. It was hard to deny an entry for the west coast artist no matter how you look at it. Gunna is probably the most polished on the Freshman list. His immaculate flow over features such as 'YOSEMITE' and 'Oh Okay', and his instant classic project Drip Season 3 made him buzz over 2018. He started the year off on a good foot with the release of his project Drip or Drown 2. Expect a bright future from Gunna. YBN Cordae hopped on the scene with his response to J Cole's '1985' track with his single 'Old N*ggaz'. That left listeners wanted to know more about the "lyrical one" from the YBN group, consisting of members such as YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty Jay. Cordae has made a name of his own though, which tracks like 'Bad Idea' ft. Chance the Rapper, 'Kung Fu' and 'Have Mercy'. Tierra Whack should be able to step into any room of rap. Her flow is undeniable, her vision is entertaining, and she's just all around dope. Her tracks like 'Only Child' and 'Unemployed' flexes how long her spectrum can stretch in the game. Megan Thee Stallion came on the scene demanding it all. I recently did a feature on her and Da Baby, so need I say more? Their time is definitely now. Well deserved. Rico Nasty came on the scene RAGING and hasn't turned down since. Her track 'Rage' is one of many that captures her uncapped energy and styles. She's a true one of one in the game right now. Rico and producer Kenny Beatz has a fire project out now titled Anger Management. To catch a grip of her, you might want to check it out.
Overall, this is a well-deserved feat for all artists. Up next are those anticipated freestyles and cypher. Stay in the loop and congratulations of the new Freshman XXL class.
